You Sexy Little Crafter, You! aka Sexy Craft Fair

I doubt you missed it cause this past Thursday the Smitten Kitten was packed with people checking out the first ever (and possibly annual?) Sexy Craft Fair. The evening featured diverse crafts for sale, free good wine and food, opportunities to meet the artists, and a pasties class with the talented Charlotte Harlot of Charlotte Harlot’s House of Burlesque.

Who knew crafts could be so sexy? These were certainly not your first grade pot holders. Local artists really put in work for this event. Some of my favorite installations are the digital illustration series Partying With Her Vibrator by Chris Park.  They feature a rosy-cheeked chic woman hanging out with her vibrator; going shopping, hanging at the beach, laughing over a glass of wine. They are hilarious and very well done. The framed prints are a bargain
at $40, but a steal at $8 without the frame.

The vintage nighties customized by Joan for LolliCoptor are too fly. They all start as white gowns, then she dyes them sexy colors and embellishes them with lace and Swarovski gems. I’ve tried on three and want more than that - super
sexy and a great throwback. Comfortable and not too pricey. Most start around $20. She also makes some sweet bondage ties.

A show stopper for me are the sculptures by RockCox. He brought three amazing pieces to the show. For the high-end shoppers, this disco ball dick is certainly a conversation piece to your collection.  Check out his website at: www.rockcox.com. I lucked out and got to the Charlotte Harlot pasty-making class before the store packed with arties. She showed us all the steps to making the perfect pasty using easy-to-find items. I made some white orchid pasties - all for free. I certainly haven’t done any burlesque, but her pasties make me think that I should. You can check out her pasties

Even the staff participated. The daughter of a cake-maker, Alicia has been baking and decorating cakes to help Mom since she was little. She made boobie cupcakes to share. I heard she got some slack from some guy friends saying  the areolas weren’t diverse enough, but craft party goers seemed to love them. Banana and chocolate-raspberry flavors, all with secret almond frosting - it is so delicious.

If you happened to miss the event you still have access to the art from now until December 23rd at the Smitten Kitten. All of the local art is on sale. I highly recommend you to check it out, if not to buy for this holiday season,
then to inspire your own sexy crafts for yourself or your friends. One of the crafters put information on her recycled bike tire floggers on how to make your own. It seems that the craft community is pretty encouraging of all do-it-yourself projects.
