Roulette

I’ve been waiting for Roulette to come out for a while. It’s been a busy week and every day I’ve looked at it on my dining room table and said, “tomorrow, I’m watching this tomorrow.” It’s easy to put off the fun stuff because I always feel guilty prioritizing watching videos over calling vendors, or coming up with new marketing strategy, or, or, or whatever.  Sometimes working at a sex store can be really not sexy.  So this morning I decided I was going to ignore the 19 new emails since I checked at 11 last night and watch Roulette. Because I deserve it.  I settled down to watch it after assembling a few toys (Delight, Medium Realistic) Getting toys together before porn is kind of like popping popcorn before watching any other kind of movie. Reasons I’m really into this movie in no particular order.

1. The music.  How often do you get excited to listen to the music that’s happening in porn?  This has been getting better lately but this soundtrack is extra good. It’s a little funny to have music breaks in the middle of all the porn action, but if you’re not into it, that’s what the chapter button is for. I went back and watched the music videos later.

2. Diversity in terms of gender representation. Butch, Femme and other variations of people just being who they are. You can check out the performers on No Fauxxx by clicking here.

3. Design aesthetic. I like people who can get dressed up in something imaginative that seems to really represent who they are as people. There’s one scene where a performer-Cole- is wearing a pink and black harness (possibly Mia-Z) and cuffs and a collar and then their glasses. Glasses are distracting for me in sex, but I have the feeling that that’s how the performer wanted it to go down, and that makes it ok with me. Plus there’s plenty of other times when glasses were off and the performers were wearing something super hot.

4. Queer. Finally a scene with two boys mixed in with scenes that have girls and girls and boys and people who are genderqueer. It’s amazing how difficult it is to find anything pansexual even today.

5. Masturbation. I love that there are great solo scenes. My favorite is definitely the scene where Dia breaks into someones house and masturbates with milk from their fridge. I say this even though I’m lactose intolerant and kind of hate milk, so it must’ve been pretty fucking hot.

6. Safer sex. Gloves, condoms on toys even when they’re non-porous, etc. It’s good to see that in a film.

7. Gang bang. They all look like they’re having so much fun in this scene. Plus I’ve always thought bartenders were hot and they filmed it at the Lex Bar in San Francisco with an actual Lex bartender. Damn. I’m putting a pic from the gang bang scene in below.
