Title: Sexy Book Club
Location: The Smitten Kitten
Description: This month we will be reading The Ethical Slut by Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy. If you have already read this one, feel free to look at other texts on the subject of non-monogamy, like Tristan Taormino’s Opening Up. Come prepared to discuss the successes and failures of the book in terms of communicating about the subject as well as some good talk about the subject in general.
Join us for Smitten Kitten’s Book Club! Each month we plan to read a different type of erotica or sex-related literature. At our monthly meetings we’ll discuss what we’ve read, ask questions, analyze and deconstruct erotic genres… and enjoy snacks, coffee and tea while we think, laugh and chat about sexy, smart writing.
Start Time: 10:00
Date: March 28th, 2010
End Time: 12:00

It’s been a while since I’ve watched porn that was so good that after my own “excitement” was over I kept watching. And watching.
Speakeasy comes to life around a fun premise — a detective (Billy Castro) investigates the goings on of an underground queer club, and finds himself drawn to the patrons there, particularly a stunning blonde (Lorelei Lee). The bar is as authentic as it gets — a true bohemian haven for the transmen and film noir femmes that hang out there. Writer/director Courtney Trouble sets a period film mood but infuses it with her hallmark queer sensibilities for sex and gender inclusivity — allowing viewers to go back in time and take their genderqueer worldview with them.
Videographer Morty Diamond (the director of Trans Entities: The Nasty Love of Papi and Wil) makes this porn interesting to watch. This is especially true of the rope bondage scene between Jiz Lee and Dallas Fivestar — and any of you who took Midori’s bondage workshop last fall will recognize a few knots!
While transmen barkeeps blowing each other’s cocks is always fun, by far my favorite scene is the finale with Billy Castro and Lorelei Lee. The chemistry between them is palpable and produces a hot combination of fisting and female ejaculation.
While the film is reminiscent of 1940’s film noir, it is not a strict period piece, and at times I was thrown by the use of “You suck!” or “Totally!” in the dialogue. But nonetheless, the costumes, music (wonderful French torch songs) and location (real-life historic bohemian bar Specs Twelve Adler Museum Cafe in San Francisco) do the trick. And a what a queer-time-machine trick it is.

You love to make out with your honey? They not really feeling it? No problem anymore with these Veasyble decorative coverings.
Don’t think we’ll be carrying these anytime soon - I just thought they were cool.

Jennifer and I just got back from our first round of store setup in Denver. We did some demolition on the previous store’s fixtures, painted, and put together a hell of a-lot of furniture. We also interviewed for the SE/SA position. We had amazing applicants and it was such an honor to meet and interview all of you who applied. We’re going to have some tough decisions figuring out who to hire.
Anyway, I promised some interested parties that I would post some pictures from our adventures, so here they are! Just wait til’ we get some vibrators on those shelves!

The mountains are so pretty at sunset!

Jennifer is wedged in between some boxes in the back seat.

Do we put butt plugs or massage candles on this shelf?

This shelf was a disaster to put together.

From the back corner of the store.

This chair is comfortable.

Will we also use coyotes in our window displays? Stop by the store to find out.
